The North Myrtle Beach Christmas Tree will be officially lit on Friday, December 2nd at 6:00 p.m. at McLean Park. The park will be transformed into a brilliant holiday scene with luminaries, decorations and the spirit of Christmas. The ceremony will include holiday songs and entertainment by local dance groups. Children are invited to visit with Santa and receive a free bag of candy! The North Strand Optimist Club will serve complimentary hot chocolate and refreshments. ??

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is hosting its Annual Festival of Trees from November 1st until December 31. Over 50 trees will be on display adorned in unique ornaments, representing the great diversity of the U.S.

Here’s some holiday related events you should take note of. Beginning with a Turkey Trot where you can get that exercise before the holiday and support a good cause as well. On Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. “A fun walk for a cause” will take place at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. The Turkey Trot is a program, designed by the Horry County Parks & Recreation, directed towards raising funds for existing and future programs pertaining to Special Needs and Disabilities. This is also a great opportunity for people to experience the living history of farming in Horry County.
There’s another trot on Thanksgiving Day. The Surfside Beach Turkey Trot will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, November 24, 2011. The Grand Strand’s best and largest Turkey Trot will start and finish at the Surfside Pier in Surfside Beach, SC with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean!
